Bird Hunting
South Africa is a shotgunners heaven: unlimited bags on rock pigeon and guinea fowl. The tasty spur fowl (red meat) and francolin (white meat) bags are limited to eight birds per hunter per day. Minimum 4 hunters, $400 / day, minimum 5 days. A plains game (springbok / blesbok / blue wildebeest hunt can be included.
Rock pigeon are challenging adversaries, flying low and fast - sometimes in flocks of 50,000+ individuals. Guinea fowl have excellent eyesight and hearing. They give you warning of knowing about your approach after which a stealthy stalk is required and then suddenly they will flush with raucous calls and a loud flutter of wings into the brush. Shooting will have to be quick, but not overly difficult as they rise at a 45 degree angle and at not too high a crossing speed.
